This certainly is an often discussed topic!
I seem to recall discussing this on Olivia’s blog and at least one other mistress blog.
I think sex can be addicting. I think what happens is the brain puts out certain chemicals, endorphins or whatever (I’m not an expert) during sexual activity including masturbation and it is possible to become addicted.
I have a much worse addiction, tobacco, and it is a known chemical addiction. There are times when I go through phases of over masturbation and in many respects when I don’t masturbate I get similar withdrawal as when I go without a cigarette.
But for me anyway there is a difference. It comes in phases, there are times when I do not feel a need to masturbate often at all, and interestingly, when I am in a relationship of sorts with a woman or even just trying to win one’s affections, I snap out of over masturbation phase (if I’m in one), like a part of my brain flips a switch.
I don’t quite understand it.
I’m also addicted to Internet. When I have to go without Internet for any length of time (which might happen next spring LOL) I go through a withdrawal of sorts.
I think a large part of it is how we define addiction. I don’t know if it is a problem for women, but men can definitely jerk too much, so much to the point where it affects their ability to do their job, and those are cases where either a domme with a chastity device to regulate it for them or professional help may be needed if it goes on for too long.
If it interferes with your ability to earn a living and meet your social and financial obligations, it is a problem that needs to be acknowledged and addressed whether or not it technically is an “addiction”. If it is not to that point, well, then it is a matter of personal choice how often you do it.
That’s my take on things, in a nutshell.
